iPhone 3G Shortages Could Last for Weeks (NewsFactor)

NewsFactor - Last week’s iPhone 3G launch appears to have been a success, with the device sold out in virtually all U.S. locations. Calls to local AT&T stores in the metropolitan Chicago area, for example, turned up no phones, and long wait lists. Reasons for the shortage range from Apple underestimating demand to a shortage of components from overseas suppliers.

It would be possible to use a mobile phone that is equipped with GPS for different types of navigation tasks by downloading a suitable application and a map to a smartphone, but not everyone likes the phone’s small screen. Garmin has introduced the Nuvi 500 that has been designed as a portable handheld GPS device for walking, cycling, driving, and boating.
